Verified Fractional Operator (VFO)

Certification designed for experienced fractional executives, fractional leaders, and fractional professionals operating at a serious level.

International Association of Fractional Professionals. - IAFP Global

Why VFO Exists

Fractional titles are self-assigned.

Operating levels are blurred.

Some professionals have built real fractional practices.
Others have adopted the title temporarily while pursuing full-time employment.

The result is a market where commitment, capability, and operating level are often unclear.

Decision makers are left to guess who is truly committed and who is not.

VFO changes that.

VFO is a rigorous fractional certification designed to verify operating level.

It verifies your operating level based on evidence, not self-promotion.

No shortcuts.
No inflated titles.
No pretending.

Just clarity.

Why This Matters to the Market

Founders, boards, recruiters, and PE firms are not worried about titles.
They are worried about risk.

Most founders and recruiters have no reliable way to distinguish between someone who held a title and someone who truly operated at that level.

VFO exists to reduce that risk.

It gives decision-makers a verified signal of:

  • Real operating scope

  • True decision authority

  • Documented outcomes

  • Professional boundaries

When stakes are high, verification matters.

What VFO Verifies

Your true operating level
• Your scope discipline
• Your decision authority
• How you structure outcomes
• How you communicate with CEOs
• How you protect boundaries

This creates a clear, defensible signal in a market where titles alone mean nothing.

Operating levels

VFO certification is awarded at the level you are qualified for, based on your experience and submitted evidence.

Those levels are as follows:

SPECIALIST

Indicates deep expertise in a specific function or discipline.
Operates independently, delivers defined outcomes, and contributes as a subject matter expert within a broader team or initiative.

LEAD

Indicates responsibility for leading a function, project, or initiative.
Guides execution, manages priorities, and drives results within a defined scope, often coordinating others but not owning the full function at a strategic level.

EXECUTIVE

Indicates ownership of a function at a leadership level (Head/VP equivalent).
Sets direction, manages performance, and is accountable for outcomes within that function, with influence over strategy and team execution.

OFFICER (C-SUITE)

Indicates true C-level operating experience.
Holds executive decision authority, sets company-level direction, and is accountable for business outcomes across functions, typically reporting to the CEO or Board.

If your evidence supports the level, you earn it.
If it doesn’t, you’ll be certified at the level your work supports.

Fair. Clear. Professional.

How the Process Works

  1. Complete the Enrollment and Readiness Form (no cost)

  2. If approved to proceed, you will receive enrollment instructions and the submission packet.

  3. Complete the deliverables

  4. Submit one clean package

  5. Receive your decision

  6. If required, revise up to two times

  7. Earn certification and the VFO badge

  8. Certification can be denied if evidence is insufficient.

  9. Applicants may be awarded a different level than requested based on evidence.

What Changes After Certification

VFO is not a badge. It is a positioning shift.

After certification, you can:

  • Lead with verified operating level instead of defending your title

  • Remove early-stage buyer hesitation

  • Differentiate from self-appointed “fractional C-suite” competitors

  • Enter conversations where credibility is non-negotiable

  • Command stronger positioning in pricing conversations where scope and authority matter.

For recruiters and boards, VFO becomes a due diligence shortcut.

For you, it becomes a trust accelerator.

VFO is not designed for everyone. It is designed for operators whose work materially impacts revenue, risk, and enterprise value.

Investment

$2,500 USD

Includes:
• Full certification review process
• One revision opportunity
• Certificate and official VFO badge
• One year of IAFP membership
• Public verified listing on IAFP website

VFO is intentionally rigorous. Approval is not guaranteed.

Investment Perspective

Executive-level fractional engagements often range from $10,000 to $25,000+ per month.

If verified status helps secure or protect one serious engagement, the return can outweigh the investment quickly.

VFO is not a symbolic badge. It is a credibility asset designed to strengthen trust where stakes are high.

Who VFO Is For

VFO is for fractional professionals who:

• Have delivered paid fractional work
• Can demonstrate real operating experience
• Want their market positioning to match reality
• Care about long-term credibility
• Want to stand apart from inflated titles and vague claims

VFO is not for:

• People testing titles
• Career switchers without operating experience
• Those looking for a quick badge
• Professionals selling above their actual level

What You Earn

Upon certification, you receive:

• Verified Fractional Operator certificate with your awarded level
• Official VFO badge for LinkedIn, website, and proposals
• Public verified listing on the IAFP website
• A stronger trust signal before the first sales conversation
• Clear differentiation in a crowded market

You may only use the designation at the level awarded.

What You Submit

VFO is designed to be rigorous, but practical.

Your submission may include:

• Operating history and relevant roles
• Scope of responsibility and decision authority
• Outcomes owned and delivered
• How you structure engagements
• Executive-facing communication examples
• 30–60 day operating plan
• Boundaries, accountability, and handoff discipline
• Verification contacts if needed

This is not about how much you submit. It is about the strength of your evidence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is VFO a course or coaching program?

No. VFO is a verification process, not a course or coaching program.

It is designed to review evidence of your operating experience, decision-making responsibility, and business outcomes against clear standards.

VFO does not qualify you for a role. It verifies experience you have already earned.

Is approval guaranteed?
No. Certification is earned when standards are met.

What if revisions are needed?

Up to two revision rounds are included when gaps can reasonably be corrected. Additional resubmissions beyond two require a new review fee or reapplication.

How long does VFO take?

You have up to 45 days to complete your submission after enrollment.

Because VFO is a certification process rather than a course, many qualified applicants complete their materials within one week.

Review timelines are then communicated based on the current certification window.

Will VFO get me clients?
VFO is not lead generation. It is a credibility asset that can reduce hesitation and strengthen positioning.

Can I apply for C-suite level if I have never operated there?
No. You may only be certified at the level your evidence supports.

Is there renewal?
Yes. Annual renewal is $495 USD to maintain active verified status.

Ready to See if You Qualify?

Start with the VFO Readiness Assessment.

No cost. We’ll confirm fit before enrollment.

VFO status is based on verified evidence at a point in time. All claims and representations remain the full responsibility of the applicant.
