A Clear Standard for Fractional Professionals
This is not a values statement. It is a standard.
Why This Exists
The fractional market has grown fast.
So has confusion.
Companies are hiring people with “C-level” titles who have never operated at that level.
The result is predictable. Poor outcomes. Lost trust.
This Code exists to fix that.
It sets a clear standard for how fractional professionals represent themselves, operate, and serve clients.
What Members Agree To
Every IAFP member commits to:
-
Represent their experience and titles accurately
-
Operate at the level they claim, or clearly state otherwise
-
Take responsibility for outcomes, not just advice
-
Act in the best interest of the client
-
Stay within their scope of competence
-
Maintain confidentiality and disclose conflicts
-
Conduct themselves professionally in all interactions
No inflated titles. No blurred lines. No misleading positioning.
Not Just Words
All IAFP members are required to acknowledge and agree to this Code.
This is not a values statement.
IAFP may, at its discretion, review concerns raised regarding member conduct.
If a member fails to uphold this Code:
-
They may be warned
-
They may be removed
-
Any associated designation, including VFO, may be revoked
How This Connects to VFO
The Code defines the standard.
VFO verifies it.
All members agree to the Code.
VFO holders have demonstrated they operate at that level.
For Companies
If you’re hiring a fractional professional, this gives you a baseline.
Every IAFP member has agreed to a defined standard.
VFO members have been vetted against it.
For Members
This is how you stand out in a crowded market.
Not by claiming a title.
By operating at a standard.

VFO status is based on verified evidence at a point in time. All claims and representations remain the full responsibility of the applicant.
